My Story

The Reverend Dr. Karen Denise Anderson is first and foremost a follower and disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.  She continues to be amazed and humbled that God called her to pastoral ministry. She has a deep love for God and God’s people. In October of 2019, God smiled on her when Bishop Clement Fugh, assigned her to First AME (FAME) Church in Las Vegas, NV.  

Her ministerial career started in the Missouri Annual Conference where she served three congregations working on various conference committees. In the Southern California Conference (SCC) she serves on various boards and is 1st Vice President of 5th Episcopal District Women in Ministry (WIM). Currently, she serves as an Advisory Committee Member for the Nevada Office of Minority Health and Equity (NOHME), Board member of Faith Organizing Alliance and Board Member of Faith in Action Nevada.

She has been blessed to preach and teach in a variety of settings and received various awards for her civic engagement.  In 2023, Dr. Anderson was inducted into her alma mater, Turner Theological Seminary’s, 9th Annual Henry McNeal Turner’s Hall of FAME.  She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Theta Phi International Honor Society for Theological Education.  

She and husband, Joseph share three adult children and five beautiful grandchildren.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Webster University, St. Louis, a Master of Divinity from Turner Theological Seminary at the I.T.C. in Atlanta, GA and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Ohio. Prior to ministry she spent more than 23 years in nursing and healthcare administration.  

Her ministry foundation is Romans 8:38-39, “for I am convinced…that there is nothing in all of creation that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.”
